Julia was born August 19, 1931 in Alpine, Texas to Julius and Catherine Mestagh. Her family moved often with her father's work, but she settled in Kansas City and graduated from Turner High School. Julia married the love of her life, Samuel Johnson in May of 1950 and they spent 63 years together, before his passing in 2013. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Tonganoxie as well as the Ladies Plymouth Guild. Julia held many charities close to her heart, most having to do with protecting our Earth, such as the Arbor Foundation and the National Wildlife Fund; she also supported a Native American School for many years. She loved being outdoors and had a vegetable and flower garden. Julia wasn't afraid to get out and help on the farm, often baling and raking hay and taking care of the animals right alongside her husband. She had a brilliant mind and was a wealth of information on many topics, often when you got her started, it was hard to turn off her insights. Julia will be deeply missed by all who knew her bright and kind spirit.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Samuel, her sister, Molly Beach, and her son, James "Jimmy" Johnson.
Julia leaves behind her children, Teresa Beach and her husband Jerry, and George Johnson and his wife Gayle; her six grandchildren, Melissa Robbins and her husband Kasey, Kelly Staples and her husband Eric, Russell Beach and his wife Jessica, Sam Johnson and his wife Tracy, Jason Johnson and his wife Melanie, and Joshua Johnson and his wife Hayle; as well as her fifteen great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren; her siblings, Charles Mestagh and George Mestagh and many other relatives and friends.
