Obituary


Lowell W. Brune, 84, passed March 31st. Family services were held Saturday, April 4th. A Celebration of Life service will be Saturday, April 11th at 11:00 a.m. at Welborn Community United Church of Christ, 5217 Leavenworth Road, Kansas City, Kansas. The family requests donations be sent to the Kansas City Kansas Schools Foundation for Excellence, 2010 North 59th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66104; please specify for White Church Elementary in memory of Lowell Brune.

Lowell W. Brune, 84, passed March 31st. Family services were held Saturday, April 4th. Lowell was born September 1, 1930 in Kansas City, Kansas to Elmer and Mabel Brune. A lifelong Kansas City, Kansas resident, he graduated from Washington High School and spent a year at Baker University. Lowell worked for over 43 years for Certain-Teed Fiberglass. He married the love of his life, Anna Lu Hollander on January 1, 1949. Lowell was an extremely active man, he coached Junior Bowling for 30 years, girls' softball for 15 years; as a result of his efforts, starting a girl's league, the Wyandotte County Sport Association was founded, where he served as a treasurer. They were very active in the Welborn Community Church, and Lowell often added his tenor to the choir. He also sang in the Bonner Springs Community Choir and performed throughout Kansas City. Lowell volunteered at the White Church Elementary for many years and was a former president of the Leavenworth Road Association and the Brook's Eyes organization. He enjoyed taking care of his yard, woodworking, and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Laura Beth Brune-Steele; his brother, Robert Brune; his sister, Lois Jean Brune-Seeley and her husband William; and his son-in-law, Mark Alan Generaux.
Lowell is survived by his wife of 66 years, Anna Lu Brune; his daughters, Patricia Lynne Brune (Sylvia Kenner), Janis Rae Brune-Camerlinck (John), Marsha Gail Brune-Generaux, and Melissa Ann Brune-Bynum (John); his grandchildren, Joe Camerlinck (Rachel), Jill Camerlinck, Grant Generaux (Claudia), Sarah Steele, Amanda Steele, Katie Steele, Laura Bynum, and Ted Bynum; his sister-in-law, Nancy Brune; and his great-grandchildren, Aidan, Lucas, Aiden, Adriana, Alex, Blake, Cameron, Rosabeth, and Ezekiel; as well as many friends and other family.
